Ethnopharmacology, Phytotherapy and Bioprospecting: pharmacological validation of plants of traditional use and search of active principles of therapeutic interest.

The research group Vegetable Bioactive Principles (PVBA) was born with the objective of investigating extracts of plants and active principles of vegetable origin of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and agri-food interest.

We provide scientific and technical advice on natural products of interest for the prevention of diseases or maintenance of health and carry out studies of prediction of bioactivity and toxicity of new compounds in in vitro or in vivo models. Among the mentioned models, the use of C. elegans as a tool for the evaluation of the antioxidant, neuroprotective and antiparasitic effects of plant compounds stands out.
