Therapeutic strategies' development against amylose

My principal interest is the development of therapeutic strategies against amyloid-related pathologies using a variety of approaches including molecular biology, biochemical and biophysical analysis, and neuropathology. I am interested to the use of Caenorhabditis elegans as animal model to elucidate the biochemical mechanisms and molecular determinants responsible for the misfolded protein toxicity. I have been involved in the generation and characterization of innovative transgencic strains expressing amyloidogenic proteins responsible for central and systemic amyloidosis in humans.
