Investigate the single and combined effects of genotoxic stress conditions and selected natural compounds with low antioxidative capacity

Our aim is to establish an optimized liquid-culture system for C. elegans to investigate the single and combined effects of genotoxic stress conditions and selected natural compounds with low antioxidative capacity. We will use it in different developmental stages of C. elegans as well as different genetical backgrounds to investigate radioprotective modulation in an in vivo-system on a molecular level. We use Ionizing Radiation as well as UV-C as a control noxe. In addition to that we are interested in influence on ageing of C. elegans wildtype and mutants from different compounds (natural compounds, drugs, inhibitors) and conditions (genotoxic stress).
