How is metabolism regulated in health and disease?

At the Research Unit Analytical BioGeoChemistry we are developing cutting-edge metabolomics and lipidomics methods for the analysis of C. elegans in health and disease. These methods are applied in different model systems to better understand the role of metabolism, particularly in ageing and longevity. A long-term goal of the lab is to decode the complete C. elegans metabolome/lipidome to enable quantitative analysis of any possible metabolite present in the worm. Furthermore, a particular research field is the development of “micro-metabolomics” methods to reduce the number of biological starting material, potentially down to a single worm.
